India defeated England by five wickets in the third and final ODI to win the three-match series 2-1. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya were the star performances. At one point, India was in trouble at 72/4, but Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant joined forces at the crease to put up 133 runs for the fifth wicket. Hardik was out after making 71 runs, but Pant continued playing till the very end, scoring 125 runs in the process, helping the visitors cross the finish line with 47 balls remaining.
In a post-game press conference, Hardik went into great detail about his partnership with Pant and what he said to the left-handed hitter throughout the course of their 133-run partnership.
“I kept saying that we should not take any risks, but I was just saying the same thing over and over. Without taking any chances, Rishabh and I can score runs thanks to our respective talent levels. It was important to avoid losing any wickets since there was only one way that England could have recovered, namely if we lost several wickets at once. To establish a connection and win the game, I kept saying the same thing “Hardik said.
“I advised Rishabh to finish the game before having fun. When he first entered, he was a little stuck, but eventually, he began playing his shots. And everyone is aware that once Rishabh begins to play his shots, you should just relax and let him go “Added he.
Pandya had earlier claimed four wickets as England was dismissed for 259 in just 50 overs.
The following five-match T20I series against West Indies, starting on July 29, will feature Pant and Pandya.
